Cracow day

This afternoon was spent in Kraków. We had a long walk along the most important places in the city. We went to the Wawel Castle where we had a group photo session outside of the beautiful Cathedral, then we walked along the river to the house of Karol Wojtyła in Dębniki, where he lived as a student, and also to his parish church and to the house of his mentor and lay spiritual director, Jan Tyranowski. The walk was quite long so we we were happy to go for dinner and after that, a little tired, we came back to Tyniec.

Workshops

The first day in Tyniec started with workshops of Jan Strycharz. The subject was Leadership in Social & Political Life. After a short introduction by Michał Łuczewski and Emilia Kowalewska we started our work. Students were divided into small groups and their first task was to find as many words (#hashtags) as possible associated with leadership. Then they chose the most important – in their opinion – and they explained why. The presentation started a discussion about inspiration - what we should do so that people share our inspiration and how we should be so that people trust us. Also about vision – what to do for people to follow your vision. And they reached the question of how to materialise the things mentioned in the hashtags in real life. The workshop ended with a presentation by Jan on virtues and vices associated with various models of leadership.

Sanctuary Avenues

We had such a beautiful day! After a lecture and lunch we had a guided tour of the Kalwaria Avenues. First we went with the guide inside the Sanctuary Basilica. The guide showed us this amazing place and told us the story of John Paul II in this place. The best way to relate this is through a photograph.

Our place

The place where we spent the most time was the pilgrim house in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. This is a really beautiful place with breathtaking views! You can also see this place on our photos.

The Ukrainian - Estonian evening

The day ended with the Ukrainian - Estonian evening. The Ukranian students prepared games of skill, games to better get to know each other and short movies about their country. We  saw a movie about Estonia and we also found out that Ukrainians are really great singers!

Living icons

We had the last seminar session from Fr. Oleh Kindiy. It wasn't an ordinary lecture because it was prepared by the students. They were divided into groups and they had to make a presentation about two saints of the Twentieth and Twenty First Centuries from Poland - St Faustina Kowalska, St Maximilian Kolbe; from Slovakia - Bl. Zdenka Cecília Schelingová, Bl. Basil Hopko; and from Ukraine - Bl. Josaphata Hordashevska and Rev. Joseph Slipyj. The presentations were about their lives, sacrifices and about what we can learn from them.

Group work

The students worked together on their presentations. They had an unusual place in which to do this, so the work was a pleasure! The effects of this work can be seen in another post - here you can see how the presentations were created!
